T3 FORUM
TEACHERS TEACHING TEACHERS

WOW 2019 invites you to a forum open to anyone interested in discussing, interrogating and understanding movement.

I feel it is impossible to be a dance artist without addressing teaching. And in this 21rst century, teaching poses enormous quandaries that merge training with being human and with ecology.”  Jennifer Mascall

We’ve invited an intergenerational mix of teachers to work with you in the studio, bringing the propositions they carry at the moment. Together we will delve into minds, bodies, and assumptions held within our own individual practices and pedagogies; physically and verbally we’ll discuss some of the dilemmas – class construction, communication, purpose - influencing this work we do.

DROP-ins welcome.
$40 a class | $190 for the week.

RABBI DIANE ELLIOT
EMBODYING NIGGUN

Niggun is a musical form sourced in Jewish mystical devotional traditions and dating back at least to the 18th century. In its purest form, the niggun is a melodic meditation, a wordless song that bursts forth from the soul, engaging the whole body of the singer in expressing a full range of emotions, from ecstatic joy to deep longing to grief to passionate desire.

"I will be offering guided movement and vocal explorations, wrought by these modalities and emotions, which in turn invite participants into the discovery of their own wordless songs." Dianne Elliot

Traditionally, the music unfolds in particular modalities, which support different aspects of community ritual and prayer life.

DROP-ins welcome.
$50 a class | $200 for the week.
