Wxmb Cxre with Be Heintzman Hope

Workshop:

Wxmb Cxre is a somatic practice in breath, voice and movement founded by Be Heintzman Hope in the fall of 2013. This work stems from physical investigations into how the nervous system is controlled by the breath and how it can be soothed by the body to achieve inner and outer harmony. Techniques practiced under Wxmb Cxre centre an internal dialogue with ones own body that make space for gender fluid notions of birth. Allowing participants to see their movement as something larger than themselves without immediately identifying with it makes space for the senses. Moving away from fixed identity invites the idea of giving birth to oneself many times over. Wxmb Cxre gives voice to the child inside as it involves the excavation of thoughts, memories and feelings imprinted on the body.

FREE SPACE

FREE SPACE

April 25, May 23, June 13 & 20
10am-12pm

FREE SPACE is free space. Two hours of free real-estate where dancers of all backgrounds, experiences and level are invited to come and use however they see fit. Other than respecting the shared use of the space and the people occupying it, there are no expectations on how you will use this space. There are no obligations, responsibilities, unspoken desires on how you choose to take advantage of FREE SPACE.

This is an experiment on sharing space together. Some questions I have for this experiment:

Do we know how to be together without being told? What different ways can we be together? Do we always look for/rely on a leader? Can collaboration exist without a leader? How do we use the resources and people around us to inform our own decision making?
